Jimi Manuwa Looking To Return In June

Jimi Manuwa hasn’t been seen inside of the Octagon since suffering a second round knockout loss to Thiago Santos at UFC 231.

The light heavyweight contender is readying for his return to the Octagon, which Manuwa wants to happen in June.

“We’re getting there, getting fit,” Manuwa said backstage at UFC Fight Night London (via John Morgan & Abbey Subhan of MMA Junkie). “I think I’m aiming for the June card in Sweden.”

Manuwa is going to be looking to end a three fight losing skid in his next bout, which is the worst losing streak of the fighter’s professional MMA career. Manuwa is still ranked #10 in the UFC Light Heavyweight Division despite the losing streak, but the fighter hasn't picked up a win in over two years.

If there is one thing that is getting Manuwa excited, it would be all the new contenders he can face upon returning to action.

“There’s loads of new contenders in light heavyweight, so I’m good to go,” Manuwa said. “That’s what happens. There’s always new fighters coming through. It’s great for the sport.”

There is a UFC card set for June in Sweden, dubbed UFC Fight Night Stockholm, with Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Smith headlining.
