Khabib Nurmagomedov Raises $100,000 For Dustin Poirier’s Charity Efforts

UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Dustin Poirier via third round submission in the main event of UFC 242 to become the undisputed UFC Lightweight Champion.

Both a victorious Nurmagomedov and a defeated Poirier were courteous with each other in the lead up to and after the bout. Nurmagomedov would tell Poirier, after exchanging shirts post-fight, that he would be selling the Poirier shirt and the money raised would go to Poirier’s charity.

The shirt was sold and according to MMA Junkie, a total of $100,000 and that will get donated to The Good Fight Foundation, which is partnered with Justin Wren’s Fight For The Forgotten.

“It’s great because it’s going to help a lot of people,” Poirier said. “I’m proud of that. I appreciate them helping out the charity. It’s been growing and I’m very grateful for that.”

In a bit of even better news, UFC President Dana White had promised that he would match whatever money was raised by Nurmagomedov, meaning that $200,000 could be coming to Poirier’s charity.
