Eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao announced that he will face current WBC and IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. in a title fight on August 21 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Pacquiao confirmed the news across his social media platforms with a promotional poster of the matchup, with Spence Jr. following suit shortly after with a similar post to his Instagram account saying "Done deal! see ya'll in Vegas for the biggest fight of the year."
PBC on FOX then confirmed the matchup themselves with the following tweet of another poster for the Pacquiao vs. Spence Jr. welterweight title unification bout.

Spence Jr. is 27-0 as a professional and last competed against Danny Garcia in December 2020, where he won via a unanimous decision. The 31-year-old also has victories over Shawn Porter, Mikey Garcia, Lamont Peterson, and Kell Brook. Pacquiao on the other hand is 62-7-2 overall in his pro career and is 5-1 in his last six fights with his most recent outing coming against former unified welterweight champion Keith Thurman back in July 2019 where the Filipino Senator won a split-decision. He handed Thurman the first defeat of his career with the win and became the WBA welterweight champion, but was later stripped of the title because of inactivity.
