Miesha Tate Says TJ Dillashaw Situation May Be Similar To That Of Jon Jones

TJ Dillashaw recently relinquished the UFC Bantamweight Championship after adverse findings were discovered in his drug test that was in line with UFC Fight Night Brooklyn.

Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate thinks the Dillashaw situation could wind up being similar to that of the Jon Jones drug test situation.

“If it happens with Jon Jones…yes, he got busted, and now it’s reoccurring, but I think we’re actually going to see more cases,” she said on MMA Tonight (via Milan Ordonez of Bloody Elbow). “As USADA is getting down to a picogram…what is that, like 50 millionth of a gram of salt or something ridiculous like that? If they’re that specific, if anybody’s used anything at one point in their career, then it’s possible that these picograms are still floating around.”

It would eventually be revealed that Jones' drug test sample in line with UFC 214 had such a small amount of PEDs in it that were from previously usage and not from any new usage.

Tate even says that before drug testing became more strict, it was possible that a lot of fighters were using illegal substances.

“There was a point when it wasn’t strictly enforced, and I do believe that probably the majority of people were using,” Tate said. “It’s possible that he did it at one point in his career before it was a big no-no. And now, it’s a no-no, and maybe he’s clean, but maybe something is popping up that maybe he used a long time ago that he never got caught for.”

The New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) has already suspended Dillashaw one year for the adverse findings in his drug test.
