Both Masvidal and Diaz seemed open to a rematch down the line, despite the opposite feeling for UFC President Dana White, but that doesn’t seem like a possibility any more.
Diaz recently took to Instagram to say “peace out” to the fight game:
There is no word at this time as to whether or not Diaz is retiring from professional MMA competition or if he is simply taking a break from competition. Diaz recently returned after a near-three year absence to defeat former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis at UFC 241, but then he suffered the aforementioned loss at UFC 244.
The fighter has been with the UFC for over a decade now and got into the promotion after winning the UFC Ultimate Fighter 5. Diaz has amassed a record of 15-10-0 under the UFC banner, with notable victories coming over Conor McGregor, Manny Gamburyan, Josh Neer, Melvin Guillard, Marcus Davis, Takanori Gomi, Donald Cerrone, Jim Miller, Gray Maynard, Michael Johnson and the aforementioned Pettis.
