Nate Diaz Wants To Fight Jorge Masvidal To Prove Who The Real Badass Is

Nate Diaz returned after a two-plus year absence to score a unanimous decision win over former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis in the co-main event of UFC 241

It would appear that Diaz would like to fight Jorge Masvidal next, with the goal being to prove just who the real badass is at welterweight.

“You have to recognize who is the best in the game, and it’s not who they say it is,” Diaz said at the UFC 241 post-fight press conference (via Dave Doyle of MMA Junkie). “It’s who I’m saying it is. It’s the guy who has been winning forever and still on the top of the game. … Who’s the real badass dude in the 170 division? They’re trying to pump up this dude (Askren), and Masvidal goes in there and knocks his ass out, and he’s been in here since I started fighting in 2004, I think. I think he had been there a little longer, and he just did that. So, that’s the best fighter to me, the best martial artist who is still on top of the game.”

Masvidal was last seen in action at UFC 239, scoring a five second knockout win over Ben Askren.

UFC President Dana White agrees that Diaz versus Masvidal is a fight that everyone would like to see.

“Who wouldn’t want to see that fight?” White said. “I think everybody would want to see that fight. We’ll see how that plays out.”

The challenged Masvidal was in attendance at UFC 241 and did seem open to the possibility of fighting Diaz.
