Tony McGregor is the father of UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor and he has been on his son’s side during the build up to the super fight with Floyd Mayweather.
Papa McGregor is predicting that his son is going to send a seismic shock throughout the boxing world after the super fight.
“The boxing fraternity, they wrote Conor off,” McGregor said on The MMA Hour. “No one in the boxing world is giving him a chance. I think what Conor is going to produce in the T-Mobile on the 26th is nothing short of a seismic shock. It’s going to reverberate right through the whole unarmed combat world. While Mayweather was the best fighter in the world — no one can take that away from him — on the 26th of August, he’s going to be the second best fighter in the world. There can only be one No. 1.”
McGregor has already sent shock waves through the MMA world, capturing both the UFC Lightweight Title and the UFC Featherweight Title.
No matter what obstacle is put in his son’s way, the father of the UFC Lightweight Champion always picks him to win in the end.
“I always stick with Conor,” Tony said. “Under four. That’s what he said, that’s what he’s gonna do. He’s not called Mystic Mac for nothing. He predicts it and he produces it.”
Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
