Randa Markos Felt Like Her Old Self Again

Randa Markos competed on the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night Nashville, defeating Angela Hill by first round submission.

That was the first win in three fights for Markos, who feels like her old self again after tapping out Hill.

“I feel like my old self again, it feels amazing,” Markos said after the event (via Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie). “I haven’t had a submission since I got into the UFC and I’ve been wanting this for a long time and been searching for it and searching for it in my training and I think I found it.”

Prior to the victory, a rejuvenated Markos had dropped a bout to Nina Ansaroff and then fought Marina Rodriguez to a majority draw.

Markos and Hill had some personal issues leading into the fight, which is something Markos tried not thinking about in the lead up to the action.

“I really tried really hard not to think about the things that were bothering me because it’s been a long time,” Markos said. “It’s been five years. It’s done and gone and I’ve grown as a person, she’s changed and I’m sure she’s not that same person anymore and really I just wanted to come in here today and find myself again.”

The fighter sits at #15 in the UFC Women’s Strawweight Division rankings, despite a 5-5-1 record in the promotion.
