Report: Marlon Moraes Tests Positive For The Coronavirus

MMA

Former WSOF Bantamweight Champion Marlon Moraes hasn’t competed since UFC 245, where he defeated former UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo by split decision.

It may be awhile before fans see Moraes compete again because both the fighter and his wife tested positive for the coronavirus according to ESPN Brazil. Moraes’ wife spent one day in the hospital, but both felt weak and the symptoms hit them hard when the virus struck.

Moraes currently trains at American Top Team (ATT) in Florida and Florida is one of the states that have been hit hard recently by the coronavirus. Others from ATT like coach Mike Brown and coach Marcos DaMatta have had their issues surrounding the coronavirus as well. Moraes had recently called for bouts against former UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz and former UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt, but both of those potential encounters will have to wait.

There has been no statement from either Moraes or the UFC as to the fighter’s positive coronavirus test or for how long Moraes could be out of action for.
