A welterweight division attraction has been added to UFC 245 according to MMA Junkie as #8 Santiago Ponzinibbio is in action against #13 Robbie Lawler.
Ponzinibbio (27-3-0) enters the contest while in the midst of a seven fight winning streak and he hasn’t suffered a defeat in over four years. Ponzinibbio has previously headlined a pair UFC cards, defeating Neil Magny at UFC Fight Night Buenos Aires and defeating Gunnar Nelson at UFC Fight Night Glasgow. Ponzinibbio has competed eleven times thus far in the UFC, but UFC 245 is going to mark the first time he has fought a former promotional champion.
Lawler (28-14-0-1NC) comes into the bout riding a three fight losing streak and he hasn’t picked up a victory in over two years. Lawler is a former UFC Welterweight Champion, defeating Johny Hendricks by split decision at UFC 181 to claim the gold. Lawler has picked up twenty eight wins as a professional MMA fighter and twenty of those victories came by way of KO/TKO.
