After weathering an early storm from challenger Gilbert Burns, Kamaru Usman showed off a completely transformed style, and rallied to stop his former teammate in the 3rd round. Usman who has been defined by his forward pressure and his wrestling acumen, came out in this fight largely fighting on the back foot, and showing off a spectacular new jab. Usman's jab was his primary weapon in the fight, leading to him scoring two knockdowns with it, the second of which led to the finishing sequence of ground and pount.
