Unranked UFC Fighters to Watch out for in 2024

Gilbert Burns def. Stephen Thompson via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Gilbert Burns was the first man to be able to secure multiple takedowns against Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson in many years. Burns secured those takedowns in each round and was able to deal significant damage, especially in the third round. An excellent performance against an exceptionally tricky fighter. Post-fight, Burns cut a passionate promo calling out essentially all the top of the welterweight division, including Leon Edwards, Nate Diaz, and Jorge Masivdal.

Tai Tuivasa def. Greg Hardy via Technical Knockout (Punches) (Rd. 1 1:07)

Oh, baby, it's the Tai Tuivasa show. First Tuivasa got the stoppage against classic UFC villain Greg Hardy early on in the first round. After Hardy hurt him, he surged in to get the stoppage and Tuivasa caught him on the way in and short ground and pound finished the fight. However, this fight was all about the post-match. First, he jumped atop the cage and did his classic "Shooey" celebration sitting atop the cage chugging a beer out of a shoe. Next, he had a very entertaining babyface promo with Joe Rogan in the cage. Finally, he probably had another 6 beer out of shoes from the crowd on his way back to the locker room. Just as he was about to leave sight my man drank beer poured for him out of the 2nd deck into his mouth. The dude is a straight-up legend.

Irene Aldana def. Yana Kunitskaya via Technical Knockout (Ground and Pound) (Rd. 1 4:35)

Irene Aldana put on a pretty darn good performance vs. Yana Kunitskaya competing ably with her in the clinch, and showing off an impressive varied strikes to get a knockdown, and close the show via ground and pound shortly after. Its worth noting that Aldana did miss weight for this fight, which she apologized profusely for after the bout.

Sean O'Malley def. Kris Moutinho via Technical Knockout (Ref Stoppage) (Rd. 3 4:33)

Sean O'Malley made mincemeat out of short notice replacement Kris Moutinho's face by landing upwards of 180 strikes to the face alone. However, Moutinho proved to be double tough and never stopped moving forward, or even really slowing down, the kid accounted himself very well, especially on such short notice.

Herb Dean's early stoppage of the fight will be controversial, as its not one you see often in MMA, tho you can understand the amount of punishment Moutinho had absorbed was a factor.
