History was made at UFC Fight Night Shenzhen as Weili Zhang scored a first round TKO victory over Jessica Andrade to become the UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion and the first Chinese born fighter to win UFC gold.
Zhang was also awarded a financial bonus as well because she, alongside Li Jingliang, was issued $50,000 for Performance Of The Night. Heili Ataleng and Danaa Batgerel, who competed on the second bout of the card, were also awarded $50,000 each for Fight Of The Night. The total amount in publicly disclosed bonus money is $200,000, which is the norm for the majority of UFC events.
The promotion did not reveal an attendance or live gate for UFC Fight Night Shenzhen, which is usually revealed at the same time as the bonuses. It is unknown at this time as to whether or not that information is going to be revealed in the future.
Up next for the UFC is UFC 242, which is going to be taking place from The Arena at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier headlining. Another $200,000 in bonus money should be handed out at the event for both Performance Of The Night and Fight Of The Night.
