“B.J. Penn was arrested on (Jan. 23, 2021) in Honoka’a for driving under the influence,” Hawaii Police Department spokesperson Denise Laitinen said in a written statement to MMA Junkie. “He has been released pending investigation.”
Penn, 42, has had several run-ins with the law in recent years. He faced DUI suspicions last February following a single-car motor vehicle crash in his hometown of Hilo.
Professionally, "The Prodigy" has not competed since a 2019 unanimous decision loss to Clay Guida. He is currently on a seven-fight losing streak and has not picked up a win since TKOing Matt Hughes back in 2010.
