The White House Wants To Ban No-Compete Clauses

The White House is pushing to ban agreements that could have major ramifications on pro wrestling.

Reuters reports that the Obama administration is calling on states in the U.S. to outlaw non-compete agreements, because they interfere with worker mobility. Non-compete clauses are standard in the WWE, but are causing controversy elsewhere, as teachers and salesmen are being punished for taking second jobs.

This would affect WWE, and any other pro wrestling company that has non-compete clauses in effect. For example, if Paige were to get released tomorrow, she'd be able to show up on TNA Impact that same night if the White House has it's way.

WWE instituted no-compete clauses to prevent situations such as that from happening. A couple of the more famous incidents were Lex Luger showing up on WCW Nitro a day after his WWE deal expired, and Rick Rude managing to appear on both Raw and Monday Nitro in the same night.

The White House claims that 20 percent of U.S. workers are under non-compete clauses.
