A wrestler’s ring name can come from a variety of different avenues. For some, it can be as simple as using their real name in the ring. For others, it can have a familial connection in some way, usually with first names after name changes. For some like Lyra Valkyria, the name can come from a work of fiction that they enjoy. However, for Braun Strowman, his ring name came from elsewhere in the world of sport.
While speaking to 10,000 Nos in a new interview, Braun Strowman revealed the origin of his ring name, noting that it is an amalgamation of two baseball players names.
“They’re talking about Ryan Braun, and I’m like, ‘Braun, Braun, I’m kind of brawny,’ and then literally they transition right after that and they start talking about Marcus Stroman, the baseball player.”
Elsewhere in another recent interview, Braun spoke about how the Mask vs Mask match between both El Grande Americanos made him remember why he loved wrestling. You can read more about that here.
