Josh Hokit discusses his favorite pro wrestlers as well as noting that he goes back and watches old wrestling angles.
MMA fighters have varying opinions on the world of professional wrestling, with some outright mocking the industry while others have been lifelong fans who made the jump to the industry following the end of their fighting career. For Josh Hokit, he can understand why fans connect with the talent involved.
While speaking to Helen Yee Sports in a new interview, UFC Heavyweight Josh Hokit was asked about who his favorite WWE wrestler was during his fandom, with the fighter naming a pair of masked wrestlers and Sting.
“Kane had the mask, right? I liked the guy with the mask for whatever reason. They were always like scary and, uh, Kane, Rey Mysterio. Um, Sting comes to mind for whatever reason.”
Hokit continued, noting that he still goes back and watches clips of old wrestling angles, complimenting the acting of older WWE superstars.
“Yeah, so now I go back and I watch the clips. I’m like, it is good acting, and it’s like, I just… now I watch it just for the characters, and I’m like, ‘oh, that’s an interesting angle.’ It’s like Jake the Snake and like… Mr. Perfect, you know, just like Macho Man and all those old school just to see their angles, you know? I was like, ‘ah, I see why people liked it.’ You know, that, that steroid era. I’m like, ‘ah, okay.'”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Hokit spoke about potentially making the jump to WWE in the future. You can read more about that here.
