Tony Khan Says He Wanted Knockout Brothers And Aaron Wolf For Forbidden Door

Fans criticized AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door for its lack of NJPW talent, noting that there were no New Japan Pro-Wrestling wrestlers in the top matches on the show.

The highest profile NJPW match featured Kenny Omega taking on Zack Sabre Jr, who has been a Forbidden Door staple. Shota Umino did defend the IWGP Global Heavyweight Title against PAC.

Absent were the likes of IWGP Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji, the United Empire, and the Knockout Brothers (OSKAR & Yuto-Ice).

Speaking to Case Lowe of Q101, Tony Khan revealed that he did want certain NJPW talents on the show, but it didn’t work out.

“Aaron Wolf and the Knockout Brothers, I really want to get over here, and a number of those people were not sent over, but I’d like to work with them in the future. I really like Aaron Wolf and the Knockout Brothers,” he said.

Khan previously noted that visa issues caused talents to miss the show. You can find his full comments here.
