Trish Stratus recalls her first time meeting Lita and compares their dynamic to Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock’s.
While the pair are now the best of friends, during their WWE career, Trish Stratus and Lita were intense rivals and have one of the most legendary rivalries in WWE’s women’s divisions history. Now, Stratus has reflected on their first meeting and the dynamic that spawned from it.
While speaking to The Toronto Sun in a new interview, Trish Stratus reflected on that first meeting with Lita.
“I just remember we were both like- so I was the new girl. She was the new girl, and I was like, ‘Oh, okay. Are we going to competing.’ Like it was like- and then we just- we clicked and then we realized that like, it was better for us to realize that we’d be stronger together than against each other. You know what I mean? Like from the very beginning. So we realized- we recognized that this character and this character, she resonates with these people, she resonates with these people, and it was that neat, interesting dynamic that really made the Trish and Lita feud rock and roll because like, you know, I wanna say Rock/Austin, like that sort of, that dynamic was sort of carried over to us. So, yeah, we always had that. We knew that whether she was a good guy, was a bad guy, whatever it was, whatever, who was playing whatever role, we knew that when we got in the role, because we had such deep character development, because we really valued our roles as valets as well. We really recognized that, the work we did as a valet and the character work we got to do allowed the fans to really get to know us and get behind us and really decide, like, if they’re going to root for us or not root for us, and so when we did you know, when we were about to, so we did the valet for so long when we actually to get in as actual like wrestlers, to be able to tell that story with these characters that people really knew and kind of got behind, it was really special.”
