Since the beginning of the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view several years ago, the two companies have come together each Summer to present their co-promoted event, usually in the United States, with the shows featuring several AEW vs NJPW dream matches over the years. In the past couple of years, NJPW stars have been more outspoken about the event, including Yota Tsuji who is no stranger to stating his negative feelings regarding the partnership.
In a new social media post on Monday morning, AEW’s Will Ospreay would react to Tsuji’s latest quote on the topic, where the IWGP Heavyweight Champion would call for a boycott of the event, leading to Ospreay countering that the NJPW roster doesn’t feel as driven as it did when he was an active member of it.
“Or maybe have some pride in representing your company as the top lad. When I held any IWGP championship I wanted to travel the world calling out the best to show them all New Japan is the better. Obviously his home market is Japan & he has done great job in the top spot to me this screams “ insecure” The roster clearly isn’t as driven as the guys I was once surrounded by. Just big belly boys wanting to keep playing “Free Play” Grow a sack, fill it with some nuts, call out the BITW & show the world how good New Japan is….”
