Adam Cole Is Glad WWE Turned Him Down After 2013 Tryout

Adam Cole recalls previous WWE tryouts.

Before he was signed by WWE in 2017, Cole had two failed tryouts with the company earlier in his career. The first came before he was of legal drinking age, and the second came in 2013. Speaking to Lilian Garcia on Chasing Glory, Cole recalled his past tryouts.

"I had one [WWE] tryout when I was 19. They were not interested at all because of my age, height, size. I just looked so young," said Cole. "Then I had another tryout. It was one of the last FCW tryouts. And I was a unanimous 'yes' to the point where I thought for sure this is happening. Then at the last minute, it was said, 'Not right now. It's not a no forever, just not right now.' That motivated me even more. I remember being so upset. But then I had the run of my life on the Independents. I'm so glad that happened. Had I would have gone [to WWE] at that point, I would have been 'Indy guy that we don't know.' Because they said 'no' and I got to build up my name, I got to come to WWE as Adam Cole."

After being turned down by WWE in 2013, Cole went on to become one of the most successful ROH Champions in history.

Elsewhere on the podcast, Cole revealed that he would like to step into the ring with another successful ROH Champion when he stated that he would like to face Seth Rollins in a dream match. You can view his comments by clicking here.
