AEW Dynamite Viewership Stays Above One Million; NXT Loses Almost 100,000 Viewers

With no direct competition from the MLB Playoffs, AEW Dynamite's viewership remained steady while NXT suffered the bigger loss in viewership.

According to Showbuzz Daily, the October 16 episode of AEW Dynamite averaged 1.014 million viewers and drew a 0.44 rating in the 18-49 ratings. Although both numbers are slightly down from the October 9 episode (1.018 million viewers/0.46 rating), Dynamite this week finished fifth on cable in the 18-49 demographic for the day whereas it finished eighth on cable in that same category on October 9.

As for NXT, the show averaged 712,000 viewers, which is the lowest viewership the show has drawn since it made the permanent move to the USA Network. The October 16 episode also drew a 0.20 rating in the 18-49 demographic, down from the 790,000 viewers and 0.22 rating the week prior drew. The October 16 episode of NXT finished 30th on cable in the 18-49 ratings while the week prior finished 27th.

AEW had a loaded show that had two title matches and two matches from the AEW World Tag Team Championship tournament semifinals. The main event saw Chris Jericho retain his AEW World Championship against Darby Allin in a Philadelphia Street Fight and Riho retained her AEW Women's Championship against Britt Baker.

NXT saw a North American title match between Roderick Strong and Velveteen Dream get pushed back a week due to Dream being attacked backstage. After Keith Lee and Dominik Dijakovic had the latest of their series of matches on NXT, William Regal announced that both Lee and Dijakovic will face Strong for the North American title on the October 23 episode of NXT. The main event of the October 16 episode saw Damian Priest defeat Pete Dunne.

This is now the third straight week AEW beat NXT in terms of viewership and ratings in the 18-49 demographic.
