AJ Styles Indicates He May Want To Retire In A Few Years

Could we soon be seeing the end of AJ Styles in-ring career?

He hinted that may be an idea when he was interviewed by 97.9 The Box in Houston this week while promoting Survivor Series from this past weekend. He noted that it sucked trying to maintain what he can do at his age.

"The older you get, the less energy you have to maintain it!" Styles said. "It is what it is, but if you still have that drive and you can still do it, why not? Get in the gym and get it done, and look good in the meantime."

Styles was asked if his family gets mad at him for being on the road so much. He noted that he's been married 17 years, and yes, his wife does get mad at him at times. He also sometimes has to discipline the children over the phone, but says that will soon change, indicating possible retirement.

"Work hard now, you enjoy it later," Styles said. "In a couple of years, I'll be able to catch every football game, every baseball game, every basketball game, cheerleading, gymnastics, whatever they're in."

The hosts let Styles know they didn't want to see hmi retire from the ring. But Styles responded by simply stating his age: "Man, I'm 40 years old!"

Styles had spent most of his career wrestling for Impact Wrestling until he left there in 2014 to wrestle for New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he was a star for a couple of years before joining WWE at the start of 2016.
