Alexa Bliss is mourning the loss of a beloved family member.
Back when Alexa Bliss and Buddy Murphy were still dating, they adopted a pet pig whom they named Larry Steve. Alexa’s first moments with Larry Steve were captured on the December 6, 2017 episode of Total Divas and for Alexa, it was love at first sight.
Shortly before Monday Night Raw on Monday, May 24, 2021, Alexa Bliss began posting on social media that she was looking for urgent help for Larry, who was in a great amount of pain and having trouble moving.
On the morning of May 25, 2021, she sadly announced that Larry had passed away. In a video released on social media on the evening of May 25, Alexa Bliss thanked those who had reached out and implored animal care workers to try and help and do their best for any animal, no matter how big or different, because any amount of help matters.
Bliss stated that Larry was surrounded by family and her fiance, Ryan Cabrera was playing music for him. Voice also stated that they would be celebrating his birthday today.
"I just wanted to get on here and say thank you to everyone who has reached out about Larry and to let everyone know that I really appreciate the amount of support and people who have called and texted, I will get back to you, I just can't yet, because we're still trying to kind of wrap our heads around what happened. Larry went very quickly, digressed really quickly, and we don't really fully understand it yet. But he was surrounded by people who loved him.
“My family was there, we were petting him and Ryan was playing your music on his guitar because Larry loves music. I just want to say, to any animal care person or vet, no matter how big an animal is, or how different they are, please help them. I hope Larry’s story helps open people's eyes to the realities of having animals around his size. I just want people to do better. We are going to celebrate Larry's birthday tomorrow. I really want to do something where we celebrate his birthday and maybe do something like a charity thing to raise money for an animal rescue and if that's something that you guys are interested in or seeing or anything like that, just let us know, and again, thank you"
On Instagram, Buddy Murphy also mourned the loss of Larry Steve with a post reminiscing on the time he'd spent with his “big boi.”
This morning I woke up to a heart breaking phone call telling me, My “Big Boi” passed away!
Larry was apart of our family, a member! A stubborn child, but loved just as much and no less than anyone else!
I’m an emotional guy, and as I write this, whilst scrolling through pictures of Larry, tears are rolling down my face & my heart is breaking!
I love you Lar-Bear! May you Rest In Peace!
Larry is also immortalized in the song “Alexa Bliss” by Bowling for Soup. In fact, his name is the final line sung in the entire song and there is a reference to Larry Steve early on in the song as well and his face is the final shot of the music video for the song.
