Apollo Crews showed off a new side of himself on Friday Night SmackDown.
A week removed from injuring Big E, Apollo Crews came to the ring to explain his actions. He says that for far too long he has been nice, humble, and respectful. Unfortunately, he's not been treated likewise and given who his family is, he deems it unacceptable. Crews shares that his ancestors are Nigerian royalty and that he is a real African American. His great-grandfather controlled some of the wealthiest areas of Nigeria, spending his days draped in gold and going to bed with his five wives. Donning a white and green scarf, Crews says that the colors represent wealth, dominance, and power.
Crews then took part in a single match with Shinsuke Nakamura. The two had faced off last week with Nakamura emerging victorious. The tables were turned tonight, however, with Crews picking up the win using the Angle Slam. The move was popularized by WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. Crews had previously been using a number of different finishes; including a spinout powerbomb, gorilla press with standing moonsault, frogsplash, and shooting star press.
