Chad Gable On Jason Jordan: We Were Competitive With Each Other And It Worked

With their respective amateur wrestling backgrounds, Chad Gable and Jason Jordan were a perfect match in the ring. But it was their respective strengths outside the bell to bell action that helped them become one of the best teams in wrestling.

Speaking on WWE After The Bell, Chad Gable discussed his pairing with Jordan and why the eventually clicked.

"He makes everything look so easy, but he was struggling. He went through the same thing I did where, I feel like he had some trouble allowing himself to be vulnerable and allowing himself to open up in the kind of way we need to. What I think happened was; they paired us together to see if it would work. We're both very competitive. I think he was initially, almost bothered by the fact that they think, 'they're going to put this new guy with me and they think it's going to work.' It forced him to raise his level and open up, and it forced me to say, 'I'm not gonna let him get way better just because I'm paired with him.' So, I raised my level. We were competitive with each other to point where it started to work. Our friendship was built out of that competitiveness. Before you know it, we were best friends after like six months. It was meant to be, 100%," he said.

Jordan and Gable went on to become NXT Tag Team Champions and arguably the best tag team during their time in the promotion. The duo went on to win the SmackDown tag team titles before Gable was moved to Raw in 2017.
