Chyna's Mother Janet LaQue: I Feel Sad That She Won’t Be There To Accept The Induction Herself

Chyna's mother is hopeful that one day, she'll be able to accept an induction on behalf of Chyna.

The 2019 WWE Hall Of Fame class is shaping up as The Honky Tonk Man and D-Generation X (Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Road Dogg, Bully Gunn, Chyna and X-Pac) are set for this year's induction ceremony. Coming with the announcement of D-Generation X was the wave of excitement from wrestling fans that the "Eighth Wonder Of The World" Chyna was going to be celebrated by WWE through DX.

Triple H did an interview with ESPN and spoke about Chyna's pending induction and stated Chyna deserves to be inducted into the Hall Of Fame as a singles star. Chyna's mother, Janet LaQue has lobbied for years for Chyna to be honored in this matter by WWE and she spoke with 'PEOPLE' about that very topic and shared that she did not think Chyna was going to be honored this year.

?I honestly didn?t think it was gonna happen this year. It was just so totally awesome because she is so deserving of this,? Janet LaQue said. ?I feel sad that it happened after her death, and she won?t be there to accept it herself, but hopefully she?ll be smiling down on me when I do for her.?

The former two-time WWF Intercontinental Champion is looked upon by some women's wrestlers of today as a true pioneer of the sport. Outside of the WWE, Chyna got to wrestle in New Japan Pro Wrestling and stepped in the ring with Hiroshi Tanahashi who has gone on to become an 8-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion. Janet LaQue said that she is very proud of Chyna's accomplishments and her persistence to achieve the goals that she did.

?She went after it,? LaQue says. ?She did what she needed to do to get there. I?m very, very proud of her, as my daughter, for having the intestinal fortitude to do that,? she continues. ?Joanie was one of a kind, that she broke the barrier in not only the wrestling field but for women across the board.?

Chyna's mother closed the interview by saying she hopes that she can accept the Hall Of Fame induction for Chyna and that Chyna will be able to look down at her and say that she is proud of her mother for accepting said honor.

?I hope people remember the road she took, where no female had ever been before, and the guts that it took to do that, it?s phenomenal,? she tells PEOPLE through tears. ?I love her. I will always love her, and I hope to God that the day that she?s inducted and I can accept for her? that she will look down on me and say, ?Mom, I?m happy for you to accept this for me.? That?s what I hope.?
