Rhodes is bearing that responsibility.
By winning the 2025 King of the Ring tournament, Cody Rhodes earned his shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship at the two-night SummerSlam event in early August.
The reigning Undisputed WWE Champion is John Cena, who defeated Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 to obtain the gold. Their main event bout featured involvement from multi-time Grammy-nominated artist Travis Scott.
While guest appearing on Busted Open, Rhodes addressed those who were not satisfied with their match at WrestleMania. He is placing that criticism on himself and said he wants to get people to the finish line at SummerSlam.
“SummerSlam, I don’t wanna go as far as making any promises, but I can tell you the goal with SummerSlam is if people felt a certain way about WrestleMania, I will put that all on my back and take all the credit and responsibility for perhaps not feeling satisfied. I’d like to get ‘em to the finish line with SummerSlam. Very much looking forward to doing this dance again.”
Rhodes was part of the SmackDown TV taping on 6/30, and to read about his segment, click here.
