Even after spending the bulk of the last 10 years wrestling for WWE, Daniel Bryan admits that he still misses competing on the independent scene.
During a recent WWE Live Event tour to Bogota, Colombia, Bryan spoke with Super Luchas and was asked about whether or not he misses the independent scene. Bryan admits that he does, mainly due to the fact that he does not get as many chances to wrestle people he?s never faced before. The former WWE Champion spoke about a recent match he had against Buddy Murphy on SmackDown as an example of facing someone new and being really excited about it.
"Yeah, the truth is I miss all of it. One of the things I miss is getting to wrestle with different people. Being independent means you can wrestling with people you?ve never faced before and I like that. For example, on SmackDown, I wrestled Buddy Murphy and I was really excited because I never wrestled him,? Bryan said.
But as much as Bryan misses wrestling on the independent scene, he does acknowledge how special it is to be in WWE, competing at WrestleMania and travel around the world. But as far as the feeling he has wrestling in WWE versus outside WWE, they?re both different sensations that he feels.
?As an independent wrestler, my mindset is to always work. Stuff like, ?I don?t know this kid, I don?t know what he can do or I?ve never been in this arena? are things I love to experience. It?s also interesting to think because as cool as it is to wrestle at WrestleMania or wrestle in Bogota in front of 10,000 excited fans, I miss the sensation I feel in independent shows. It?s simply a different sensation,? Bryan said.
