Darby Allin And Dustin Rhodes Advance In AEW TNT Title Tournament On AEW Dynamite

Darby Allin advances in the AEW TNT Title tournament.

Allin defeated Sammy Guevara in a quarterfinal matchup on Wednesday's Dynamite, picking up the victory with The Last Supper (modified bridging figure-four pin). The hard-hitting bout got off to a quick start with Guevara attacking Allin on the outside and splashing a prone Allin, laying on a bridged ladder, him from the top rope. Guevara lost a shoe and got busted open in the bout, but nearly picked up the victory after catching Allin's Coffin Drop into a torture rack. Guevara went for a knee to face, but Allin reversed, leading to the Last Supper.

Allin will face Cody, who defeated Shawn Spears in the quarterfinals, in the semifinals of the tournament.

On the other side of the bracket, Dustin Rhodes put his career on the line and walked away victorious against Kip Sabian. The finish saw Brandi Rhodes take out Penelope Ford with a spear, leading to Rhodes hitting Code Red (Destroyer) on Sabian for the victory.

Rhodes will face Lance Archer in his semifinal bout.

The first-ever AEW TNT Champion will be crowned at AEW Double or Nothing on May 23. The event was originally scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, but had to be moved due to the coronavirus pandemic. The event will take place as scheduled with more information coming.
