David Arquette Explains Why He Fell Through The WCW Stage

On the May 3, 2000 episode of WCW Thunder, David Arquette fell through a pre-rigged stage during a brawl between Jeff Jarrett and Diamond Dallas Page.

Jarrett and Page were fighting on the scaffolding and one of them was supposed to fall off and through the stage. Instead, Arquette stepped onto the gimmicked stage and ended up going through.

During a Reddit AMA, Arquette explained what happened.

“They forgot to tell me specifically where the area was. They just told me go out and go to the right. The long story is they didn’t want me wrestling in Memphis given Andy Kaufman history and the hatred of me being the champion at the time. So I had the day off, I went to Graceland, and showed up right before I had to go out. They said “Just go out there and go to the right,” and I fell through the stage. I looked up looking at them looking down at me, their faces said WHAT A MORON and I rolled out of the way!!!”

Arquette is a former WCW World Champion who ended up turning on DDP.
