Dio Maddin Not Returning To WWE Raw Commentary, Samoa Joe Taking His Place

Samoa Joe will be in the Raw announce booth for the foreseeable future as he recovers from his thumb injury. He'll replace Dio Maddin, who has been sidelined after taking an F5 through the table courtesy of Brock Lesnar.

News of the commentary change up was reported by Ryan Satin on WWE Backstage. Satin went on to report that Maddin has actually returned to the WWE Performance Center to continue his training as a pro wrestler. Before getting the Raw commentary gig in September, Maddin (under the ring name Brennan Williams) was a regular at NXT live events in Florida.

Joe first filled in for Maddin on commentary on the Nov. 18 episode of WWE Raw. He returned to the booth this past Monday, Dec. 2 and received praise for his work alongside Jerry Lawler and Vic Joseph. Joe has also been a regular panelist on WWE Backstage.

It is unknown when Joe will return to the ring from his thumb injury.
