There will be no Edge & Christian reunion in WWE for the foreseeable future, but that doesn't mean Edge is angry that his best friend now works for another promotion.
Christian Cage made his in-ring return at WWE Royal Rumble as a surprise entrant, showing he was cleared for competition after being forced to retire in 2014. With Christian returning to the ring and embracing Edge, who had returned the year prior, fans expressed their excitement for Edge & Christian dream tag team matches.
Unfortunately, those matches were put on pause as Christian left WWE and joined AEW.
Speaking on the Sports Illustrated media podcast, Edge gave his thoughts on Christian's move.
"I'm not bummed. I want him to be happy and I want him to get the respect that he deserves because I'd like for him to get the on-air respect that the locker room shows him. If you ask anyone within our industry, he's a name where people go, 'Man, that dude.' Watch Steve [Austin] and Randy [Orton] talk about [Christian] and what he brings to the table. I want him to be wherever he's going to get that respect. Whatever the initials are, he's my best friend and I want him to be happy and do what I'm hopefully able to do, which is go out on your own terms and see this thing through properly instead of 'you're done.' We've both been in that scenario," said Edge.
