El Phantasmo: Jushin Thunder Liger's Legacy Isn’t S**t, And I Don’t Give A S**t About It

When it comes to Jushin Thunder Liger, many consider him to be a legend, but El Phantasmo couldn't care less about him.

One particular moment that proved El Phantasmo's indifference to the retired wrestling legend was in last year's Super J-Cup final when El Phantasmo punted the trophy given to him by Liger. In an interview with NJPW, El Phantasmo admitted that he absolutely wanted to get under Liger's skin, but lamented the fact that he wasn't his final opponent when Liger retired in early January.

"Yeah, but I definitely wanted to get under Liger?s skin though. When he presented me with that trophy I knew that the right thing to do was smash it right in front of his face. I?m sad I didn?t get to retire him, but I know he didn?t want me to embarrass him in his last ever match. Too bad," El Phantasmo said.

Shifting to his overall opinion of Liger, El Phantasmo didn't mince any words, saying he doesn't care about his legacy wrestling for several decades.

"He has an iconic look, but I never really thought of him as a legend. Look, all I care about is winning matches, and making money. If I can have fun along the way by pissing people off, so much the better. His legacy isn?t s**t, and I don?t give a s**t about it," El Phantasmo said.
