Elix Skipper Recalls Not Getting Pay Raises In AJPW, The Wall Making $10,000 A Week

During his run with TNA/IMPACT, Elix Skipper would make trips to Japan to work at All Japan Pro Wrestling.

Working as Dark Guerrera and Extreme Blade, he would be joined by his WCW friends Kwee Wee (Funkster in AJPW), Mike Awesome (The Gladiator in AJPW), and Jerry Tuite (The Wall in WCW, Malice in TNA/IMPACT, Gigantes in AJPW).

Speaking to Kwee Wee on Get Funk’d with Kwee Wee, the two recalled pay in AJPW.

Elix Skipper: They loved me, but my problem with Japan was the money. I wasn't getting Jerry (Tuite) [Malice] money, and I'm not saying I deserve Jerry money, but they wasn't paying me.

Kwee Wee: Jerry and Mike Awesome, Jerry told me they were making $10,000 a week.

ES: That was a show. A week? I know it was $10,000 something. They were making good money.

KW: When I first started going over there, they paid me $2,000 a week. Every time I went over there, they upped it. It went to $3,000.

ES: They didn't do that with me. They started me with $2,000. At OVW, we were making whatever, so they gave us a little bit more a week and after that, they kept giving me the same thing, they weren't upping it. They said they would, but they didn't.

KW: Every time the guy from LA from the All Japan Dojo would call, I was like, 'Hey, listen, I was promised I would get more money every time I go over there.' He goes, 'Let me get back to you. Yeah, we're going to bump you up $1,000 a week, how does that work?'

ES: That didn't happen (for me). Every time I mentioned it, he said, 'We're going to take care of it, just be patient.' He kept telling me to be patient. I was going on everything, but I wasn't making no money. They were saving money on me.

Skipper last wrestled in 2009 at NWA No Limits when he lost to Tyler Black (Seth Rollins in WWE).
