Erick Redbeard: I'd Be More Than Open To Returning To AEW If The Right Storyline Came Along

Erick Redbeard isn't opposed to returning to All Elite Wrestling.

The man once known as Erick Rowan first appeared on AEW programming during the special "Brodie Lee Celebration of Life" episode of AEW Dynamite after Brodie Lee's death in 2020. He later returned to the company in 2022 on the March 4 episode of AEW Rampage and teamed up with PAC and Penta Oscuro to face the House of Black at AEW Revolution, but he hasn't been seen in AEW since.

During an appearance on UnSKripted with Dr. Chris Featherstone, Redbeard was asked about potentially signing with the company. He made it clear that he didn't have an answer, but if the right storyline came along, he'd be open to it.

“I got no answer to any of these questions. They’re all great questions. But thank you, thank you for wanting to see me. But like I said, storyline wrestling is what I want, and if the storyline works out in the future for both parties, then I’m more than open to it," Redbeard said.

The powerhouse was also asked whether he had any talks with AEW after his previous work with the company. He responded by noting that they had been in touch, and some things didn't pan out, but that's the way the business worked.

“We kept in contact, possibilities of doing things in the future, may or may not have had things to do that didn’t follow through with. But stuff happens. It has to be the right time, the right place," he said.

When the possibility of a Wyatt Family reunion with Bray Wyatt came up, Redbeard made it clear that any potential scenario with his former stablemate would be in honor of Lee, the third original member of the group. He emphasized that he still misses his friend, and he still associates wrestling with him.

“Let’s just say, if I did anything with Bray, it would be in honor of Jon. For me, no matter what it is, it would be very emotional every day. I wouldn’t enjoy it personally just because he’d be on my mind every day, but every time I wrestle or get in the ring, he’s with me, so it’s just one of those things where some days, it hits me hard, I get very emotional, and that’s life, but what makes me happy afterwards is I wouldn’t be having these feelings and getting so emotional if I didn’t care," Redbeard said.

Speaking of Lee, Featherstone asked Redbeard whether he'd want to become the new leader of the Dark Order at some point, to which he responded, "The answer is absolutely not. To me, that’s what Jon creates. Especially the short amount of time he made it memorable. It’s his legacy to that company, that and the TNT Title. To me, just leave it alone. End it. I don’t think they should go. But I think that there shouldn’t be a new leader."

Fans in the comments section of the video continued to express their interest in seeing Redbeard join AEW. He noted that he appreciated the support and told them that if they tweeted Tony Khan, everyone would have to wait and see what would happen.

“All of those people, just go on their Twitter machines and harass that boss and we’ll see what happens," he said.

Redbeard continues to work on acting projects, and he is somewhat active on the independent wrestling scene.

He previously looked back on the way the sheep mask became part of his look during his run with the Wyatt Family. His comments are available here.
