Matt Makowski Recalls 'Catching' Simon Gotch With A Palm Strike At Bloodsport

Before Matt Makowski entered the world of pro wrestling, he found success in MMA, fighting for EliteXC and Bellator.

Makowski picked up victories over Nick Serra and Joe Schilling during his time in MMA and amassed a 6-2 record before he stopped fighting in 2010.

Given Makowski's background in professional fighting, he was a natural fit for Josh Barnett's Bloodsport.

"They're definitely some of my favorite matches. I feel most comfortable doing those types of matches. They can be a lot of fun. They are more physical than a regular match, but if you have two professionals that experience sparring in a controlled environment, that's basically what you're doing, it's a controlled spar. I wasn't trying to knockout Simon Grimm [Simon Gotch], but I'm making real contact with my palm on his face. If you go back and watch it, the first one I threw was much quicker than he was expecting and I kind of caught him," he told Jeremy Lambert and Stephen Jensen on The Spotlight.

Makowski has had three bouts at Bloodsport, going 2-1 in his contests.

Elsewhere during the interview, Makowski discussed his ROH plans before they went on hiatus. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
