Hulk Hogan vs. Gawker Media could be headed to the big screen.
Gawker, the online media company that is no longer functioning is reportedly going to be a part of either a film or limited series involving themselves and a man who they had a drawn-out lawsuit with; WWE Hall Of Famer Hulk Hogan. In 2012, Gawker media posted a clip of Hulk Hogan and the wife of radio personality, Bubba the Love Sponge, performing sexual activities. Hogan would then forward a cease and desist over to the company to take the video down but they refused to do so. This eventually led to Hogan filing a lawsuit against Gawker Media and asking for $100 million in damages for violating his privacy.
In March of 2016, Hogan was granted $115 million from the jury in damages from Gawker. Just a few days later, Hogan was awarded another $15 million in punitive damages, plus an additional $10 million from Gawker founder Nick Denton. The company attempted to appeal the verdict, but that did not fare well as they ended up agreeing to pay Hogan $31 million and dropped the appeal.
According to Deadline.com, the entire situation involving Hulk Hogan and Gawker is going to be converted into a film or limited series. David A. Neuman?s 'Blackrock Productions' have acquired the rights to develop and produce the published book "Conspiracy ? Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker and the Anatomy of Intrigue" into an on-screen piece. The book details the legal battle between Gawker, Gawker founder Nick Denton, Hulk Hogan, and billionaire entrepreneur Peter Theil who backed Hogan financially during the lawsuit.
