John Cena Currently Has No Plans For A WWE Return

It's been months since John Cena last appeared in WWE and even longer since he had a match, but don't expect him anytime soon.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Cena explained why a return to WWE at this time is unlikely. Cena said he was very appreciative of what the wrestling industry has to offer, but it has its advantages and disadvantages. With Cena's current projects and past comments about his body not being able to handle a full-time WWE schedule, a lengthy return to the company isn't something in the cards for now.

?Professional wrestling is a wonderful industry, but it?s also extremely addictive. It?s addictive because it makes you feel relevant, it makes you feel important. It can fill the void of a lot of things that you may not be brave enough to face. It also pays really well, so you get attached to the financial security. It allows you to make irresponsible financial decisions because you think the money?s always going to be there," Cena said.

Cena added that he doesn't want to be someone wrestling and have people notice is a step slower than when they were in their prime. The former WWE Champion noted guys like "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson were able to walk away when the time is right.

?The fan base has seen some wonderful individuals look a step slower. I just don?t want to be that person. People like Steve Austin and Dwayne Johnson, they have done it perfectly,? Cena said.

Cena last appeared on the Raw Reunion episode back in July, but his last match in WWE took place in January when he lost to Finn Balor with a Universal Championship opportunity against Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble on the line.
