John Cena: The Longer WWE Bets On An Aging Prospect, The Less Stable The Future Is

John Cena is no longer a full-time wrestler, but he's acting as one throughout the summer.

Cena is slated to work television and live events through SummerSlam and will work at Madison Square Garden in September.

Speaking to USA Today, Cena commented on wanting to be there full-time, but WWE needing to move on from an aging veteran.

“Man, I wish there was some sort of fountain of youth where I could be a full-time contributor. The longer they continue to bet on an aging prospect, that makes (WWE's) future a little bit less stable. I used to chastise people for not working as efficiently as the WWE. And as a young man, I failed big. I was judgmental and I was apprehensive and I wanted to be back in the ring because I loved that immediate gratification," he said.

Cena is teaming with Rey & Dominik Mysterio on live events, working against The Usos and Roman Reigns.

He is set to headline WWE SummerSlam against Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship. You can view the current lineup for WWE SummerSlam by clicking here.
