Karrion Kross continues to open up about his time on WWE's main roster.
After signing with WWE in February 2020, Kross quickly rose to the top of NXT, becoming champion at TakeOver XXX that August. Though he was forced to relinquish the title the next night due to injury, Kross would come back with a vengeance, reclaiming NXT's top prize in April 2021.
While NXT Champion, Kross made his WWE main roster debut on July 19, losing to Jeff Hardy. Kross would drop the NXT Championship on August 22 to Samoa Joe. This would be his last appearance on the brand. The next night on Raw, Kross came out to the ring with new attire which included a helmet. Just over two months later, both he and Scarlett Bordeaux (his fiancée and on-screen manager in NXT) were released by WWE.
Appearing on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Kross revealed that there were no concrete plans for him once he arrived on the main roster. Though he heard his name mentioned in regards to working with other talents, he simply showed up and did whatever they asked him to do.
"No (there were no plans). I did have several people tell me...there were conversations at one point of me working with Randy (Orton), Bobby (Lashley), Drew (McIntyre), Rey (Mysterio) and maybe Roman (Reigns). It wasn't anything concrete. my name was being mentioned with theirs as possible matchups, which I was absolutely thrilled for, who wouldn't be? You're working there, of course you want to work with those people, they are the best of the best. When I got there, there wasn't really any discussion of that. You just show up and do what they tell you to do," Kross said.
As for whether or not he kept his helmet, Kross says he doesn't resent it, though did compare it to a prop from 'Annabelle.'
"No, I left it in the props truck," Kross revealed. "That thing, you ever seen 'Annabelle?' Put it in a glass case, put a crucifix over it, keep it away! I had no resent towards it, but what's funny, the material it was made out of began to expand in the humidity so every single week, it would get a little bigger. It started to feel like it was becoming the helmet from Spaceballs. I was like, 'this is ridiculous.'"
