The tag team division in WWE belongs to the New Day.
On the December 10 episode of SmackDown, King Woods and Kofi Kingston defeated The Usos and RK-Bro in a triple threat tag match to determine the best team in WWE. With an opportunity to reclaim the SmackDown Tag Titles at Day 1, New Day is ready to place a stranglehold back upon the division.
Appearing on the most recent episode of Talking Smack (available now on Peacock and WWE Network), King Woods explained that when they aren't holding the belts, they're simply allowing other teams the opportunity to flourish while they pursue other goals. He adds that they might take all the titles if they feel like it.
"All that means is that we are allowing other people to breathe for a second. We've had a stranglehold, a literal stranglehold on this division for damn near a decade at this point. So, we're allowing other teams to flourish a little bit and say, 'You know what, you're on the boat now. We'll take a little hiatus. We'll get a crown. We'll go become King. We'll make sure we got a Hand. We'll make sure that E is Heavyweight Champion and then when we feel like it, we'll take the titles.' Hell, we might take the Raw titles too. Who knows. We might go to NXT and take those and then we might talk to Pretty Deadly and take the NXT UK titles too. Who knows," Woods said.
Continuing on, Woods compared New Day to four-time Olympic Gold Medalist Simone Biles and said that they are on a different level than everybody else. Here are his full remarks:
"People ask these questions; when you beat the Champions are you next in line? I beat Bobby Lashley when he was Heavyweight Champion. Did I get a shot? I technically beat Roman while he's Universal Champion. Did I ever get a shot? We've beaten The Usos countless times before when they've been Champions, and yes before we got shots. Are we going to get a shot now? Probably. Are we going to become Champions again? Probably. Are we going to have to go to Raw and win those Championships as well? Probably. All of these things already have answers. New Day is the greatest. Everybody here is fantastic, they work hard, they're fantastic workers in the ring, but we are just better. We're on a different level. We're the Simone Biles of professional wrestling. You know, she competes on a different level than literally everyone else. They have to score her so much more difficultly, that's a word. That's what we are."
