Kurt Angle: AEW Will Need To Realize They Will Always Be Number Two

Kurt Angle comments on AEW's place in the pecking order.

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle was back on Facebook, answering fan questions in a Q&A session.

Matt Hardy To Appear On 4/25 TNA iMPACT!

One fan asked Kurt, "What's your thoughts on aew? Do you see any parallels with tna in 06 when you joined?"

Angle replied, "I see some similarities. AEW has a very long road ahead of them. I know that the talent there is up for a challenge. The can succeed if done right, but AEW will need to realize they will always be #2. WWE is way too big and has way too many years behind them for a new company to step in and take over the top spot. I recall when TNA tried to compete against WWE on Monday nights. I told the TNA office that we will never beat WWE. I told them we should realize that we’re #2 and should be happy with it. AEW has a tough road. Can they succeed? Yes. Will they beat WWE in ratings and arena ticket sales? No."

Angle was a major acquisition for TNA in 2006 and his arrival helped move TNA Impact into a primetime slot on SpikeTV. TNA was viewed as the #2 wrestling promotion in America for the longest time, but couldn't maintain the momentum or come close to overtaking WWE.

Other highlights from the Q&A session:

What is the most important non-camera role in professional wrestling?

I think there are many important roles. Excluding Vince McMahon, HHH and Stephanie, I’d say creative. Writing weekly every single day is the toughest job there is. I also give a lot of credit to guys like John Laurinitis and Michael Hayes for the incredible job they do with helping talent with their matches. They’re two of the best.

What’s your opinion on the fiend bray Wyatt

The next time he shoves that claw down my throat, I’m going to kick him in the balls. Lol. I like it. It’s intriguing and entertaining.

id love to know has the paranormal activity demon ever grabbed your foot during the slumber hours?

Yes, and I peed all over his head. That’s the kind of guy I am. LOL.

Hi Kurt, with King of the Ring coming on Monday. What difference did winning King Of The Ring make on your Career? Also, which of the participants do you think needs to win this tournament the most to take their career to the next level?

The winner of the King of the Ring will most likely be in the hunt for the World Title. I’m not going to mention who needs to win it because every single athlete in the tournament will need to win it. If you look at previous winners, most of them conquered the WWE after they won the King of the Ring.
