Lee Moriarty has become one of the top names on the Independent scene during the pandemic era. Moriarty's breakout came during GCW The Collective in October and then again during WrestleMania weekend in April.
Moriarty has since signed with MLW, and while there has been interest in other companies, Moriarty is focusing on himself for the time being.
"There have been feelers and things like that. It's something I think about, but I don't dwell on it too much because I don't know what these people are thinking. I did an interview with a wrestler who has a positive mental health guy named Jackson Stone and something I took away from that was he said, 'control what you can control.' There's a lot of stuff we can't control. I can work as hard as I possibly can, but if they're not interested, then they're not interested. It doesn't mean I'm doing something wrong, it means it's not the right time or place. I'm going to do what I'm going to do to become the best. The contract stuff, that's going to come when the time is right. I'm just focused on making wrestling better because I was taught and I believe in making wrestling better than the way you found it," Moriarty told Sam Roberts on NotSam Wrestling.
When asked if there are any promotions that caught his eye, Moriarty spoke highly of some companies, but didn't give any specific names.
"There are a couple of places I would like to work, whether signed or unsigned, there are places I would like to work. Signed-wise, there are a few places that, from the outside looking in, look like a lot of fun to me. I haven't experienced them, but they look like a lot of fun. Obviously, I wouldn't say publicly, but my email is out there. The reason I won't say it publicly is because I could say 'this place' and then miss out on an opportunity somewhere else. I'll never assume 'this is 100% where I want to be' because it might not be what you saw it as with the rose-colored glasses. I'm gonna wrestle and have fun. I look forward to wrestling with MLW. I'm excited about that because I like the product. It doesn't mean 'he's signed there, so he wouldn't sign there.' I'm focused on what I can control and what I can control is me wrestling and having a good performance," he said. "There are so many places that offer you a contract and sometimes you'll get buzz and you'll get signed. There's still so much that I haven't accomplished as an independent wrestler. There is still so much I can push that would make myself more valuable later on. There's nothing wrong with, if you have buzz, taking the offer. There's (also) nothing wrong with declining it and betting on yourself. Everyone's path is different. If the right thing comes in front of me at the right time, I'll take it, but I don't have blinders on."
