Matt Hardy Provides Brief Update On Jeff Hardy, Continues To Tease ‘Broken Matt’

Matt Hardy offers an update on Jeff Hardy and teases the return of his "Broken Matt" persona.

Jeff Hardy has been absent from AEW since he was arrested for driving under the influence in June. AEW suspended Jeff indefinitely on June 14, and he entered rehab. Since then, updates on his status have been few and far between. Matt recently stated that he still wants to have a great run with his brother in AEW.

Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Matt was asked whether he had an update on Jeff. In response, he stated that Jeff is doing what he needs to do, and they have to get past his legal issues in order to move forward.

“He’s basically been doing the same thing he’s been doing. He’s doing exactly what he needs to be doing to get where he needs to be in life. More or less, we’ve just got to get these legal issues behind him before we move forward, so that’s kind of where we’re at with Jeff, and we’re hoping that happens sooner rather than later," Matt Hardy said.

During Jeff's absence, Matt has continued to appear on AEW TV. In recent weeks, he has been involved with a storyline with Ethan Page and Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen.) On the December 7 episode of AEW Dynamite, Hardy and Page argued during the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale, and the tension continued to rise in a digital exclusive after the show. When Page threatened to punish Private Party, Hardy snarled and showed flashes of his "Broken Matt" persona. When asked about this segment, Hardy teased that he might end up "Broken" again if he and Page keep going down this path.

“I can say I am not a big fan of Ethan Page. I think he’s an asshole. Very creative guy. I do think he’s an asshole. It’s hard to call him an FI because he’s got a pretty good head on his shoulders, he just uses it for all the wrong things. So yeah, there’s was a point in there where I snapped a little bit. It could have been a flash of Damascus popping out of my mortal vessel. I don’t know. If we continue along this same path, and he keeps punishing and doing things to Private Party that negatively affects their career, then I might end up 'Broken 'before it’s all said and done. I promise you, Ethan Page, if we end up going down this avenue, this is going to be something you will regret," Hardy said.
