Maven Answers Whether He’s Still In The 2002 Royal Rumble Match

Maven responds to whether he’s still in the 2002 Royal Rumble.

The 2002 Men’s Royal Rumble match saw Triple H win after eliminating Kurt Angle. To many fans, this wasn’t the biggest highlight of the battle royal. Earlier in the match, Maven eliminated The Undertaker. This was a shocking moment for many fans, as he was still new to the business. The Deadman wasn’t so happy with his elimination, as he beat Maven down afterward and tossed him out of the ring. Because The Deadman was no longer part of the match, many fans believe Maven was never eliminated.

During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, he was asked if he’s really still in that Royal Rumble match.

“Evidently. I’ve always been under the impression that that was a mistake, and that once the WWE, once the top brass, once management found out, oh gosh, Maven was not officially eliminated. Their answer was to have me face Jericho the following week. Happy accident, it worked out. It’s something that I still get asked to this day. Yes, I’m still in the damn Royal Rumble. I ain’t gonna win, though.”

In one of his YouTube videos, Maven said that the lack of house shows in WWE is hurting talent. Fans can check his comments here.
