Místico Defeats Averno in Mask vs. Hair at CMLL 93 Anniversary

Místico won the main event of the CMLL 93 Anniversary in a Mask vs. Hair Match against his longtime rival, Averno.

Headlining CMLL’s 93rd Anniversary event, a Four-Way Elimination Tag Match was set to determine a “Final Suicida” match. Místico & Averno teamed up against the teams of Último Guerrero & Templario, Zandokan Jr. & Star Jr., and Bárbaro Cavernario & Dragón Rojo Jr. in an all-out brawl.

After a heated affair, Místico & Averno managed to pick up the win in the four-way. This immediately led to an anticipated Mask vs. Hair Match nearly 20 years in the making. The former tag team partners and long-time rivals went at it as a ruckus crowd in Arena Mexico cheered along, especially after Averno immediately ripped the top part of Místico’s mask in the opening stretch.

Despite being a rudo, Averno was the favorite with the crowd. Místico tried to fight back, but Averno had a reversal for every single one of his moves. In the end, Místico managed to land La Mística after eating three lariats to win by submission. His fellow Sky Team faction mates (Máscara Dorada & Neón) joined in the celebration of his triumphant win. 

Averno gave Místico a piece of his hair after the match, but this was a trap. Averno immediately kicked Místico and stomped on the entire Sky Team; El Amo y Señor then stole their masks and stood tall at the end of the CMLL 93 Anniversary.

This was Místico’s 14th Apuestas Match in his career, and he is undefeated in these types of bouts. This was also his first Apuestas Main Event in a CMLL Anniversary since 2009, outlasting Negro Casas at the 76th Anniversary.
