The Miz swooped in with his Money in the Bank briefcase at WWE Elimination Chamber and once again captured the WWE Championship.
Following Drew McIntyre surviving the Elimination Chamber bout to retain his WWE Championship, he was assaulted by Bobby Lashley, who lost his United States Championship earlier in the night. After Lashley put Drew in the Hurt Lock and slammed him down, Miz saw his opportunity to cash in his Money in the Bank contract. One Skull Crushing Finale later and Miz was the new WWE Champion.
In a WWE.com interview following his victory, Miz said, "Understand, I told you so. Whenever someone says 'I wasn't thinking on their level,' I am a master strategist. I think further than anybody else in WWE. I didn't just take respect, I demanded it. I could care less if everyone is on the internet like, 'Oh, Miz doesn't deserve. He shouldn't be WWE Champion.' CRY! GO AHEAD AND CRY! Keep on doing it. That is the fuel that lights my fire. I am your WWE Champion, whether you like it or not. Ten years ago, we had an angry Miz girl and I hope and pray there are thousands and millions of angry Miz girls right here, right now, sopping, weeping, wishing that Drew McIntyre was still WWE Champion. He's not, and I am. This is me saying, I am now content being awesome. See you at WrestleMania, or Monday Night Raw, whichever I feel like because I am Champ and do whatever the hell I want."

Speaking to Sportskeeda after his 2020 cash in, Caley has had a change of heart.
"I personally think he’s one of the best on the roster, I know it’s a big change from my opinion 10 years ago but I love him when he’s a heel champion, I think he’s got the personality for it down to a T. I loved meeting The Miz and he was always super kind to me and he worked super hard, so I definitely think he deserves it," she said.
Miz might be disappointed to know Caley is now a fan, but he can rest easy knowing someone out there is angry and crying that he is WWE Champion once more.
