MLW Addresses AAA Cruiserweight Title Controversy Between Laredo Kid And Lio Rush

On the February 10 episode of MLW Fusion, Lio Rush battled Laredo Kid in a champion vs. champion bout with Rush putting his MLW Middleweight Championship on the line and Kid putting his AAA Cruiserweight Championship on the line.

Rush was victorious in the bout, making him a double champion. However, Laredo Kid was referred to as the AAA Cruiserweight Champion during recent appearances on AEW Dynamite and he continued to make appearances with the belt.

Things got messy on both sides with Konnan saying that Lio dropped the title back to Laredo at a TV taping that had yet to air. Lio responded by saying he was willing to do a rematch and that he declined the story proposed to him, which was that the referee made a mistake.

On the May 5 episode of MLW Fusion, Laredo Kid appeared and was holding "a new" AAA Cruiserweight Championship. It was explained on the show that Laredo refused to acknowledge the title switch, claiming that Lio tapped out in the match. The announcers disagreed with Laredo, saying Lio may have tapped once as he reached for the ropes, but the rules state you must tap three times.

Laredo competed on Fusion, picking up a victory over Gringo Loco while showing off his AAA Cruiserweight Title after the bout.

That settles that?
