Myron Reed's MLW journey began with some nerves.
Speaking with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp (full interview above), the 24-year old star admitted that seeing his roommates all getting signed was a motivating factor in him more actively hunting down a full-time position with a promotion. Worried that he wouldn't be able to work independent shows while under contract, Reed shared that he was nervous to sign his first MLW deal. Here's what he said:
"For me, I was living in Ohio and I was living with Trey Miguel, Zachary Wentz, at one point [Desmond Xavier]. All those guys are getting signed and I was like, ‘Man, I’m trying to get signed.’ So, [I started hitting promotions up] and it took a little while, but MLW got back to me and they were like, ‘Oh, man. We’ve seen your stuff and we’re fans of your work.’ Pretty much from there, the rest is history. Just figured out a contract and that’s how that went. I was nervous about signing the contract at first. So, people were like, ‘It’s non-exclusive. Blah blah blah. You can still wrestle on the indies.’ ‘Cause I thought I wouldn’t be able to wrestle on the indies. I was like, ‘I dunno.’"
Reed joined MLW in July 2018, signing with the organization at the age of 20. Since then, Reed has impressed, most notably for holding the World Middleweight Championship for 423 days before losing it to Lio Rush on January 6, 2021. In December of 2019, MLW announced that Myron Reed had re-upped with a new long-term deal.
Throughout the first quarter of 2019, Reed and Rich Swann began a "Justice" movement in protest against what they deemed to be biased officiating. Swann left the company soon after, which led to Reed forming an alliance with Jordan Oliver and Kotto Brazil (no longer with MLW). The trio soon began going by the name of "Injustice."
For Reed, being part of a team is nothing new, and his existing friendship with Oliver made their pairing all the easier. He said the following:
"Honestly from the time I started I was always put in a tag team. I’ve always been in tag teams my whole wrestling career. As far as in-ring teaming, not really that hard. I felt like that was super easy to do. Especially because me and Jordan know each other from backyard wrestling. So, we were already friends before any of the MLW stuff. So, it was pretty easy for us to connect."
Reed's record reign with the Middleweight Title was disturbed by the COVID-19 pandemic, but before shows were halted, he was wrestling and defending the belt against competitors from all over the world. Asked if there were any plans that got altered or if there was someone he was looking forward to facing, Reed had this to say:
"Pretty sure ACH was one of the guys. Like, [I’ve wrestled him before.] That would have been awesome as far as feud goes. Because right before the pandemic, I believe, [Kotto] and Jordan did something with King Mo and ACH. Man, I felt like that’s going to be something soon. But, like, pandemic was right around the corner."
Reed is scheduled to face CONTRA Unit's Daivari at MLW's 'Never Say Never' on March 31, 2021.
